Reflections (ongoing)

Reflections is an ongoing exploration of the way light can be manipulated in 3D software.
Counter to the real-world, digital artists can direct reflections, change the visibility of objects, and alter how something is seen.
Even the camera is an invisible entity - a proxy piece of geometry placed for ease of use.

Leonard Cohen’s famous refrain states:

‘There is crack in everything… thats how the light gets in’

In Anthem 1 & 2, the flowers are only visible in the reflection.  Using a broken mirror as motif, these pieces show that the fractured and incomplete can reveal realities that the whole and pristine cannot.

These pieces are available as NFT editions. Click on the images to find out more.

Surface Tension (ongoing)

Surface Tension is a series of works that act as contemporary still-lives.

Flowers, trees and other objects are 3D scanned and processed in a custom-built script that runs a fluid-simulation over every point, subsequently the  point-clouds slowly but surely dissolve and drift away.

Points in Time (ongoing)

Points in time is a series of works that purposefully force errors in ‘computer vision’ technologies in order to explore distortion and interference, in memory, data and lived reality.

I create scenes and diorama that inentionally confuse 3D scanning software in such a manner that it wrongly interprets data to build fictional spaces.  Reflections, lens artefacts and tricks of light become three-dimensional spaces; portals through which to imagine new realities.

Cloudburst is a series of twelve floral-pointclouds. Derived from photogrammetry scans, these pieces are fraying and distorted; digital decay caught in a snapshot.

Cloudburst was released as a small-scale social experiment on collaboration and competition within the NFT ecosystem. The primary sales of this series were split 50/50 between two wallets; my own wallet, and a newly created wallet.

The respective seed words for this new wallet were given one-by-one to every successful winner of a cloudburst auction. i.e. the winner of cloudburst#1 was given the first word, the winner of cloudburst#7 was given the seventh seedword etc etc.

The Fatling, (still), 2021

Ghosts in the Carnery is an interactive story-telling experiment, conducted within the NFT ecosystem.
The project is framed as an investigation, with artwork as evidence, cumulatively revealing a secret past. The arc of the story is decided by collectors of artworks.

The buyer of the first piece 'The Fatling' is shown two new artworks ore pieces of evidence - they choose which of the two is more compelling. That artwork is then committed to chain. The next collector makes the next choice, and so on.
Art tells the story, collectors decide the path
